New Scout headquarters kitchen installation
Buckinghamshire -
February 2009
The brief was simple. Install a fully-fitted kitchen in an empty, featureless space. Being a kitchen that will be used to prepare for scout groups, the kitchen area was to include a new serving hatch and double sink.
Figure 1 shows one of our professionals working on the new studded walls prior to plastering and tiling.
Figure 2 shows the original serving hatch before modification, with the first of the new kitchen units being installed. Figure 3
shows the serving hatch after modification, along with the new worksurface and some of the tiling.
The project had to be completed within a fixed two week window. Along with the construction work, the brief was to install a vinyl non-slip floor, a large range gas cooker, several double sockets, a double sink and splash back tiles.
Finally, the new area was painted and decorated before all the rubbish and leftover materials were taken away.
Upon completion of the project, a member of the team stated that ...
"The project went without a hitch. This was down to professional project planning. Another satisfied customer!" |

New soffit, gutter, window and front door installation
Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire -
March 2009
This was a relatively straightforward project, which required the replacement of an existing wooden, single-glazed, window and front door.
Figures 1 and 2 show the original door and original window.
The entire project was completed in one day. The finished project is illustrated in figure 3.
The project also required the installation of a gutter and replacement of some fascia boards (see top of figure 2). Being a porch extension, there had never been a gutter, which had resulted in the original wooden door being subjected to extensive rainwater damage and subsequent swelling.
Following completion of the project, the client had this to say ...
"The entire process from ordering to completion was a breeze. Haydon Home Improvements were very professional, very reasonably priced and paid attention to detail. Their workmen even removed all old materials and tidied up before they left.
I would definitely recommend them following a first class job. Thank-you".
As well as being asthetically pleasing, the main benefits of this installation will be reduced rainwater damage to the door and brickwork. The replacement door and window will also reduce heat loss, which will in-turn reduce energy bills.
The inclusion of a single opener (see figure 3) in the replacement window will also provide ventilation during damp weather if the porch contains coats and wet footwear in inclement weather. This will greatly reduce the chances of damp forming within the porch.
The new door and window also provide a much greater level of security than the original wooden single glazed units.
