Some questions are asked time and time again, so we have compiled a list of such questions right here. Hopefully, this will dispel myths, provide valuable information and emphasise the fact that we are a friendly, open and honest business and we know what our customers need.

It goes without saying that if there is anything that is not covered in this section, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the Contact Us section, or give us a call using the numbers listed above.

Naturally, we will add to this section over time, so please come back to us again!
My property already has double-glazing. Why should I be considering replacing it?

The technology behind double-glazed window and door units has improved significantly in recent years. They are now tougher, longer-lasting, more secure and more energy-efficient than ever before.
Can I see examples of completed projects first hand?

HHI pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship. We are always happy to accomodate a visit to the site of one of our latest, completed projects or installations (subject to appointment).

What is energy-efficient glass, such as 'K-glass'?

'K-glass' is a type of glass that keeps heat inside. This glass must be fitted a specific way, unlike more conventional glass.

What are the differences and benefits between internally-beaded and externally-beaded?

Internally-beaded units mean that the glass is fitted from the inside of the property. The glazing beads cannot be removed from the outside of the property. This makes internally-beaded units much more secure than externally-beaded units.
What is Certass/Fensa certification?

Certass/Fensa certification means that the certified company has met or surpassed the standards of the governing body, to ensure that all replacement glazing conforms to current building regulations.
What happens to my guarantee if Haydon Home Improvements cease trading?

Whilst we are a very-well established company with a solid reputation, we appreciate that clients may be concerned about any guarantees, should we cease trading for any reason.

We provide an insurance-backed guarantee that allows the client to contact the insuring company , which then arranges for any remedial work to be completed to the highest standards.
What is the best type of roof to fit in a conservatory - glass or polycarbonate?

Two factors should be considered when making this decision - budget and rain! Budget, because polycarbonate is cheaper, BUT when rain falls on it, it can be very noisy. Glass, on the other hand, is more expensive, quieter when raining, but provides a greater level of energy efficiency.
Do I need planning permission when having windows, doors or conservatories fitted?

There is no hard and fast rule here, so HHI always advise a phone call to your local planning office is a good idea when considering replacement glazing or a conservatory.
What is a fascia and soffit?

A fascia and soffit is the part of the property where the gutter is attached. It sits just underneath the edge of the roof and is usually made of wood. Modern fascias and soffits are usually made of toughened uPVC materials that are easier to maintain and last considerably longer than their wood equivalents.
Why change fascias and soffits?

uPVC replacement fascias and soffits are much lower maintenance as they do not need to be rubbed down and painted. They also last considerably longer than wood-based equivalents.
